Established in 1856, historic Peterson Iowa is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Little Sioux River Valley. Peterson celebrated its sesquicentennial (150 Years) in 2006.
A small town rich in culture and history, there are 6 museums – quite a few for a town of 372 people.
Historical sites include The Farm Machinery Museum, Christian Kirchner Home, and Fort Peterson Block House; part of the original Fort Peterson.
Peterson has plenty of recreational amenities to offer; there are boat ramps for canoeing and kayaking, a state park, and a country park for bird watching, hiking, and camping.
